What are ABC, AAC and ABN?

ABC
AAC
ABN

A -- Aluminum piston

A -- Aluminum piston
A -- Aluminum piston
B -- Brass cylinder
A -- Aluminum cylinder
B -- Brass cylinder
C -- Hard Chrome plating
C -- Hard Chrome plating
N -- Electroless Nickel or
NICASIL plating
For an ABC engine, the cylinder will be brass and the inner wall of the cylinder will have chrome plating. The piston will be aluminum color and usually has oil retention grooves cut into it.
For an AAC engine, the cylinder will be light aluminum color and the inner wall of the cylinder will have chrome plating. The piston will be aluminum color and usually has oil retention grooves cut into it.

For an Nickel plated engine, the cylinder is completely plated inside and out with Nickel so it looks like Steel. The piston will be aluminum color and usually has oil retention grooves cut into it. Nickel is less wear resistance than chrome and is cheaper.

For an NICASIL plated engine, the cylinder is plated by NICASIL which is a premium plating found on only a very few very expensive engines because it offers even better wear resistance than chrome in nitro rc engines.
